The Son burst forth today!

What a day. This morning was possibly the earliest I have gotten up in a long time - I got up around 5:20! The reason being is that I needed to get to the Easter Sunrise Service at my church. My wife (Alyson) typically gets up around 5:00 every morning, so it wasn’t anything new to her.

But this morning on our way to church, I was struck by the beauty of the sunrise. I wish I had a picture of it, however I forgot my phone at home (that’s what happens when a non-early riser is forced to get up early – they hurry around and forget things!). Yet I can tell you that as I was driving to church I was moved to tears. It has literally been a while since I have seen a sunrise.

As Alyson and I were driving we listened to a CD with a medley compilation that my good friend Rick White gave me that he and his church put together. Just as the morning sun began blinding me as I drove, the song hit it’s climax with “There in the Ground his body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain, THEN BURSTING FORTH IN GLORIOUS DAY, UP FROM THE GRAVE HE ROSE AGAIN (In Christ Alone).” Tears streamed down my face, as I realized that today was truly going to be a day to remember.

And it was.

(Alyson took this picture the other day while also listening to the same song while driving to work!)

Great Picture Alyson. There is a song I used to sing at camp. Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory, Glory. You know if we never get up early, we miss seeing one of God's greatest creations. And the sun's rise is a great reminder of the Son's Rise.
